Join our expert-led tours and discover the thrill of catching one of the ocean's most prized game fish
Book Your TourThe Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus) is one of the largest, fastest, and most valuable fish species in the world. They can grow to over 10 feet in length and weigh more than 1,500 pounds. With a streamlined, torpedo-shaped body, they're built for speed and can reach up to 40 mph.
Bluefin tuna are apex predators with remarkable adaptations including warm-blooded metabolism that allows them to thrive in both cold and warm waters.
Bluefin tuna are highly migratory, traveling thousands of miles across the Atlantic Ocean. They typically spawn in the Gulf of Mexico and the Mediterranean Sea, then migrate to feeding grounds in the North Atlantic.
These fish can be found in depths ranging from surface waters to over 3,000 feet deep. They follow food sources and optimal water temperatures, generally preferring temperatures between 60-80°F (15-27°C).
Atlantic bluefin tuna populations have declined significantly due to overfishing. They are currently listed as endangered by the IUCN. Strict catch quotas and size limits have been implemented in many regions.
As responsible anglers, we practice catch and release when appropriate and adhere to all local regulations to ensure future generations can enjoy this magnificent species.
